About Exam (IIT Karagpur 2011)

Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law is the first of its kind law school to impart legal education with IP specialization within the IIT System bringing synergy among science, technology, management and law. The School offers a Six-Semester, Three-Year Full-Time residential programme leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Law with specialization in Intellectual Property Rights with the requirements of the Bar Council of India.

Programme

Curricula of the Programme has been prepared based on the requirements of the Bar council of India. In addition several specialised courses in law and Intellectual Property Rights are offered:

Eligibility for Admission to LL.B. (Hons) Degree in Intellectual Property Rights

First Class Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.
OR
First Class Masters Degree in Science or Pharmacy.
OR
First Class MBA Degree with any of the above

Reservation of seats :

  • Open for all states
  • Based on LSAT 2011 score also

Admission Procedure
Admission will be a two-step process:

  • All India written test for entrance to be conducted at Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hydrabad. The institute reserves the right to cancel/reallocate any of the centres in case of insufficient number of qualifying candidates at a particular centre.
  • From the list of qualified candidates from the entrance test, the final selection of candidates will be made on the basis of GD/PI at Kharagpur and other centers as may be decided by the Institute from time to time.

Application Forms

The hard copy of the filled in online form must accompany a draft of Rs.1000/- for General Category or Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PH Category drawn in favour of "IIT Kharagpur " payable at Kharagpur and should be sent to the Dean RGSOIPL on or before 21st March 2011. The cover should be clearly marked as LL.B. 2011 Admissions.

INSTRUCTIONS TO FILL IN ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

(Online application submission extended till Feb. 5, 2010)
(Hard copy of duly filled in application should be sent to the Dean RGSOIPL on or before Feb. 12, 2010)

STEP-I : Make PAYMENT

In order to fill in the online application, payment of application fee has to be made apriori. The payments are made through Demand Draft only.

Application fee:

Rs. 1000/- for GENERAL and OBC (Non-creamy layer) category and
Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD category.

The application fee is not refundable.

Demand drafts (Rs. 1000/- for GENERAL/OBC (Non-creamy layer) category and Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PD category) should be made in favour of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal.

STEP-II : Fill in the ONLINE application form

Click on 'Apply ONLINE' to view the form. FILL in the appropriate data. You will have to FILL in the payment details also. Therefore, it is essential that before you fill in the online application form make sure that you have the Demand Draft as mentioned above. You must enter the Demand Draft number and the Bank name for the payment details.

STEP-III : PRINT the online application form

After submitting the online application, you will be able to generate a PDF document of the online application with your specific details/data. For this your computer must have Adobe Acrobat Reader. From the onscreen view of the PDF document that your browser projects, you must PRINT the generated PDF online application form.

STEP-IV : PASTE PHOTOGRAPH and PUT SIGNATURE

On the PRINTED application form mentioned in step-III, PASTE a recent good quality non-attested photo of yourself in the space provided. Sign in the space provided for specimen signature. Sign in full using only black ball point pen in the box provided. Since the signature is proof of your identity, it must be genuine and in full; initials are not sufficient. Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS is not permitted. The form must be signed only by you and not by any other person. The signature will be scanned and put on the Admit Card as well as the Scorecard. If the candidate�s signature on the answer script, at the time of the examination, does not match the signature on the Admit Card, the candidate will be disqualified.

STEP-V : OBTAIN OBC(Non-Creamy layer)/SC/ST/Disability CERTIFICATE (If Applicable)

OBC(Non-Creamy layer)/SC/ST certificate and/or Disability certificate should be obtained from appropriate authorities, IF APPLICABLE.

STEP-VI : POST

Place the Demand Draft, printed online application form and if applicable, the OBC (Non-Creamy layer)/SC/ST and/or Disability certificates in an envelope and send it to THE DEAN, RAJIV GANDHI SCHOOL OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW, INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KHARAGPUR, KHARAGPUR - 721302by SPEED POST.
