Today, there are numerous forms of law practices in India. In a broader sense, there are basically four types of practices namely:
- Private Practice: A lawyer may work individually or associate with partners to provide services in one or more domains.
- Public Interest Law: Lawyers serving low income individuals or providing legal advice for social causes fall in this category.
- Government Council: Lawyers hired for legal advice and representations to government organizations like ministries, etc fall in this category.
- Corporate Council: Lawyers hired by different corporate houses as in house counsel.
