The online CLAT 2012 Counselling Process is scheduled to commence today and will close on June. The Counselling is being organized by the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata ( NUJS ). The counselling platform is open to a select group of students based on a broad cut off. The candidates participating in the Counselling will be required to register themselves and rank the 11 NLUs in the order of their preference.
The candidates have been advised to study the brochures of all the Universities and make an informed choice.
Candidates need to note that if their name already finds mention in the General rank category within this counseling list, then they will not then find their name in the reserved rank categories, since they are anyway being called for Counselling.
The CLAT 2012 authorities have unequivocally declared that they will not be ranking the Universities. The authorities have also stated that mere participation in the Counselling or merely being called for the Counselling will not guarantee the students admission into any of the NLUs.
The CLAT 2012 Counselling Process will be conducted for candidates under the All India categories only, and not for the State – wise Categories, as the criteria for the state quotas differ amongst the NLUs. If any candidate has issues or queries relating to his or her state rankings, they have been directed to correspond with the respective University.
The whole counselling process is scheduled to last till June, 2012, on which date, the second list will be announced. The candidates would then be required to take admissions into the respective NLU’s directly.
Once all the candidates rank their preferences, the counselling system will then close for internal processing. After that a university wise and category wise candidates list is prepared; based on the rank of the candidates, their university preferences and the Rules.
The system then generates the first list, where selected candidates will be allotted to the various 11 NLUs according to their rank and preference. Once this first list is generated, the selected students are required to pay INR 25,000/- ( non refundable ) for blocking the seat. This deposit has to be paid to NUJS within a very short time window.
