
Faculty of Law,Lucknow University has been a pioneer legal institutions of India. It was established in 1921 with Mr. Jag Mohan Nath Chak as the first Dean. The real architect was Prof. R.U. Singh who with great zeal and enthusiasm organized teaching and research in the faculty in a systematic way. He held the office of the Dean, Faculty of Law till 1956. He also structured the Law Faculties of Delhi and Benaras Hindu University. Dr. V.N.Shukla, the well known authority of Constitutional Law was the first LL.M. of the University. The Faculty has produced many distinguished personalities including Dr. Shanker Dayal Sharma, former President of India, Shri Ram Krishna Hegde, former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Surjeet Singh Barnala, the Governer of Uttaranchal and Mr. N.K.P. Salve. Similarly, Mr. Justice A.S. Anand, Former Chief Justice of India and Mr. Justice Saghir Ahmed , Mr. Justice Brijesh Kumar of the Supreme Court and many High Court Judges graduated from this Faculty.
Eligibility
Admission in the LL.B ( Hons) Five Year Course:-
A candidate will be eligible for admission to LL.B.(Hons) class if he/she has completed Intermediate or equivalent examination recognized by Lucknow University with 10+2 system and has secured not less than 45% marks at Intermediate level. However, for SC/ST candidate minimum percentage of marks will be 40%.Admission to theLL.B (Hons) programme will be strictly on the basis of merit prepared according to percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination provided that weightage and reservations shall be given as permissible under University Rules.However, the girls will be given weightage of 5% in the total marks secured by them in qualifying examination Admission in the LL.B (Three Year) Course:- A candidate will be eligible for admission to LL.B. class if he/she has completed BA/B.Sc/B.Com or any other bachelor's degree recognized by Lucknow University with 10+2+3 system and has secured not less than 45% marks at Graduate level. However, for SC/ST candidate minimum percentage of marks will be 40%. Courses Offered
The candidate belonging to General category should not be above 19 years of age on 16th July of the year of the admission. However, SC/ST and OBC candidates should not be above 20 years of age.
The University offers certificate of proficiency, diploma, bachelor's and master's degree courses in almost all faculties. The duration of the courses ranges from one year to five years. The courses are offered in both regular and self-financing categories. Certain specializations are also offered in some departments.
