Hidayatullah National Law University

Hidayatullah National Law University Raipur is one of esteemed national Law schools in India. It stands with its motto Dharma Sansthapanartham (for the sake of establishing the primacy of the laws of eternal value). Established in 2003 by the Government of Chhattisgarh, HNLU is a residential university. It has been included in the list of the Universities maintained by the University Grants Commission, UGC Act, 1956.

Courses

Hidayatullah National Law University offers LLB, LLM and PhD Programs in Law. Admission to the LLB programme is made on the basis of merit in the Common Law Entrance Test. LLM program of two years tenure is of four semesters. Candidates for LLM course are selected by the Admission Committee appreciating their performance in an interview.
PhD programme in Law is provided to the candidates who possess minimum 55% marks in qualifying exam. Relaxation of 5% marks is applicable for SC/ST candidates. The university offers internship to give effective professional training as per the Bar Council of India regulation regarding legal education, emphasizing the need for professional training and to expose the students to the practical aspects of law.

Facilities

The library at Hidayatullah National Law University has large treasure of law books, case law reports and journals. The library has adopted an open access system so as to make it easier for the students to access to the library resources. Photocopying facility is also available in the library. Facilities like Computer lab with internet, Mess, Canteen and playgrounds are also provided by the HNLU Raipur.

How To Get Into Hidayatullah National Law University ?

Admission to the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Programme is made strictly on the basis of merit as assessed through a Common Law Entrance Test(CLAT)

How Many Seats ?

The intake capacity for the Degree Programme shall ordinarily be eighty (80) with the following reservations. However, it shall be at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor to proportionately increase/decrease the total number of seats.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to appear for CLAT-2011, a candidate should have passed his/her Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC and persons with Disability)*. Age of candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of General/OBC candidates (22 years in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability)* as on 1st July, 2011
