Natoinal Academy of Legal Studies and Research University of Law Hyderabad, is a residential University offering world class education in the field of legal studies and research. NALSAR University provides enormous opportunity to explore limitless options in legal profession and is setting new standards in the field. The University has been recognised by the University Grants Commission under the UGC Act, 1956.

Established in 1998, NALSAR University of Law was started under the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act (Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998) of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature.

Courses Offered

  • B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) - 5-years course
  • LL.M. - A 2-years course in the following areas: Environment Law, Human Rights, Intellectual Property, Insurance Laws, Constitutional Law, Corporate Law and Governance (including International Business), Criminal Law
  • M. Phil. (Master of Philosophy) - 1-year course in law
  • Postgraduate Diploma : 1-year course in the following areas: Patents Law, Media Law, Cyber Laws and International Humanitarian Law

Facilities

  • NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad has established separate residential halls for boys and girls, with a common dinning hall. Facilities like common room with indoor games, TV and telephones (only for incoming calls) are available in the hostels. There is a common mess that serves non-vegetarian food three days a week. Two private telephone booths have been provided for the students. Other amenities offered include Bank Extension Counter, Health Centre, Sports & Games Stadium, Internet Centre and Conferences/Seminars facilities.

How To Get Into NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad ?

  • The students are admitted to NALSAR University through CLAT 2011(Common law Admission Test) on the merit basis.

Eligibility and Admission Procedure

  • To be eligible to appear for CLAT-2011, a candidate should have passed his/her Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC and persons with Disability)*. Age of candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of General/OBC candidates (22 years in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability)* as on 1st July, 2011

How Many Seats ?

B.A., LL.B.(Hons)

  • Total no of seats - 80 (Eighty)
  • The number of students to be admitted through admission test is seventy with the following reservations: Scheduled Caste - 15% (11 Seats)
  • Scheduled Tribe - 7.5% (5 Seats)
  • Women* - 30% (Horizontal)
  • Persons with Disability - 3% (2 Seats)
  • Since women candidates admitted come to about 50% on their own merit this reservation does not affect the seats in the general category.
  • In addition, 10 seats are allotted to Foreign Nationals. Candidates possessing the citizenship of a country other than India will only be considered under this category.
