
One of the jewels constituting Patna University is Patna Law College. The College, located on the bank of the holy river Ganges, is premier institution of Law in India, having the status of one the oldest institutions for legal studies in Country. Established in the year 1909, it remained as Government Law College with complete management control of Directorate of Public Instruction, Bihar, Patna until 1st January 1952, thereafter the College became the constituent unit of Patna University and is continuing as such. The Patna Law College is permanently recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.
The Patna Law College has a glorious past and rosy future. It is well known for producing legal luminaries of National & International repute. It has the privilege of producing two Chief Justices of India and a galaxy of Supreme Court and High Court Judges. The college feels proud of floating the names of Mr. Justice Late B.P. Sinha and Mr. Justice L. M. Sharma who brighten the Patna Law College as becoming the Chief Justices of India. A galaxy of Supreme Court and also High Court Judges, who have graduated from Patna Law College demonstrate the testimony of the academic credentials of Patna Law College.
The college, which enjoys permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India, imparts instructions as per the updated syllabi prescribed by the B.C.I. for Three-year Law course leading to LL.B Degree of the Patna University and the Students are awarded Law Degree after successful completion of the Three-year course and Passing all the Three-year course and passing all the three Law Examination(LL.B. Part I ,Part II, Part III) conducted by the University.

As per the directive of the Bar Council of India, instructions shall be imparted and University Examinations shall be conducted( besides Terminal and Sent up Test conducted by the college in each Part Separately) in the following subjects.

(7)HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL LAW.
PAPER 8TH OPTIONAL PAPERS
Any one of the following subjects and that will be opted as paper 8th
(a) LEGAL HISTORY.
(b) MARITIME LAW.
(c) BANKRUPTCY LAWS.
(d) INSURANCE LAW.
(e) INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC LAW.
LL.B. PART- II CLASS:

(e) CONFLICTS OF LAWS.
COMPULSORY PRACTICAL TRAINING PAPER
(1) MOOT COURT, Pre- trial Preparations and participation in Trial Proceedings.
(2) Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing.
LL.B. PART- III CLASS:
PAPER 1 TO 7 COMPULSORY PAPERS
(1) CIVIL PROCEDURE CODE AND LIMITATION ACT.
(2) LAW OF EVIDENCE.

COMPULSORY PRACTICAL TRAINING PAPER
(1) Professional Ethics, Accountancy for Lawyers and Bench Relation.
(2) Public Interest Lawyering, Legal Aid and Para - Legal services.
Eligibility Criteria
ADMISSION TO LL.B.
Admission to LL.B class shall be open to a person having Bachelor Degree in arts, science commerce, Engineering or any faculty of a recognized University or possesses such academic qualifications which are considered equivalent to a Bachelor's Honours Examination or 55% marks in pass course Examination.
Admission to the aforesaid course shall be made in accordance with a merit list prepared strictly on the basis of aggregate marks of all the paper taken together obtained by candidates in the aforesaid examination and reservation schedule as per norms shall be followed in admission of candidates of reserved categories.
NOTE:
* In No case a candidates will be eligible for admission to any of the Course of the Patna Law College on the basis of transfer Certificate from any institution imparting LL.B. Course.
* No Student who has been admitted to the Patna Law College shall be permitted to prosecute any other Course such as Master's or Diploma course simultaneously.
