Symbiosis is a Greek term meaning 'Living together for the mutual benefit of each other. Symbiosis is an educational and cultural center of international standards. Established in the year 1971, under the patronage of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, President & Founder Director, it is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Symbiosis Law School, established in June 1977, was affiliated in the beginning to the University of Pune. Further, another important stride was made in 2002 when SLS became the constituent college of Symbiosis International University. Thereby, SLS gained an enhanced degree of autonomy in teaching, learning and research.
Symbiosis has been the meeting point of noble thoughts. Being the academic meeting point for all kinds of talent in the legal arena, SLS has occupies pride of place among the flagship institutions of Symbiosis. Symbiosis Law School stands for a global leadership in legal education. Nestled in the city of Pune (popularly described as the Oxford of the East, with the glorious heritage of being the capital of the Peshwas), it has recently been conferred with the honor of being a core partner in the global network of legal institutes of Erasmus Mundus. It embodies the essence of Symbiosis which means living together for mutual benefit. This institute has co-existed as the only Legal Studies Institute with other flagship institutions of Symbiosis International University – a host of excellent institutions in Management and Information Technology. The close connection between social sciences and law hardly needs to be articulated. A lawyer needs to be conscious of the intricate and complex problems of the society. Our integrated Bachelor of Law programme provides a deep Insight into the historical perspective of development of law, political factors influencing policies culminating into law and the intricate relationship between legislations and social problems. This Programme aims at creating socially sensitive sentinels of justice.

Course Structure for the B.B.A., LL.B:- The use of word ‘multi’ is indeed multiplying in today’s world, multi-nationals, multi-tasking, multi- dimensional, and why not multi-disciplinary’. The sweeping changes in the global economic scenario have necessitated a strong demand for a breed of youngsters with the potential knowledge of law coupled with the core essentials of management and business to enhance productivity. With the object of catering to this demand unfolding before the students, and to enable them to explore these vistas of opportunities that lie ahead, we have commenced an integrated Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Law degree programme (BBA LLB). Here we impart exhaustive knowledge to the students not only to survive but also to excel in the increasingly competitive world.

L.L.M.
This is a two years full-time Course divided into four Semesters. Admissions to L.L.M. are on the basis of interviews and the merits of the qualifying examination. The sanctioned intake in the First Year L.L.M. is 30 students. Candidates seeking admission to L.L.M. course must have Three Years/ Five Years LL. B. Degree from Indian or Foreign University recognized by the University Grants Commission with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
Master of Tax Management & Tax Administration
The course duration is 2year (part-time) and the candidate must be a graduate of any faculty from recognized university.
Master of Labour Laws & Labour Welfare
The course duration is 2year (part-time) and the candidate must be a graduate of any faculty from recognized university.
