SET 2012 Notification

The body responsible for conducting SET is Symbiosis International University. Students who wish to pursue B.B and B.BA can enroll for the Entrance test. There are 200 seats together allocated for these courses. It is compulsory to qualify in the written exam in order to get admittance for the above course. However there are no written tests for Symbiosis institutes of Technology (SIT) and the Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS).

Structure of SET

The SET paper is conducted for five subjects. They are

  • Health Science
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Design
  • General

The duration for each session is 150 minutes. The paper is conducted in two sessions. Students are allowed to take more than one paper. The first three exams are usually held in the first session. The Design and General paper is conducted in the afternoon.

Syllabus of SET

The law section will hold 15 questions from:

  • Logical
  • Analytical reasoning
  • Legal reasoning
  • General knowledge
  • Comprehension

The portions for Engineering and Health sciences are the same. The paper will be having 100 questions each.

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

The syllabus for the afternoon session is Design aptitude and English. It will hold 100 questions.

The English paper will be having 150 questions from

  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning
  • General awareness
  • Quantitative
  • English

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply for SET should have passed plus two. The minimum marks required is 50 % and above for general class people. There is an exception of 45 % marks for those belonging to other classes.

The candidate should not be more than 20 years. The upper age limit for candidates belonging to other class is 22 years.

How to Apply?

Candidates can apply online. They can either apply through the official website of SET or through the institute’s website. The application fees is Rs 1500/-. Payment can be submitted either through a Demand Draft or by a credit card. It should be withdrawn in favour of the officer in charge.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates after filling the application form are required to take a print out of the same for reference. They should fill the online application very carefully. Students are required to upload their passport size photograph awhile submitting the form. They should bring the admit card and an ID proof while appearing for the test.

Important Dates

  • Last date to submit the fees is by April 3rd week, 2012
  • Final date for online application is by 2nd week of April, 2012
  • Exam will be held by 1st week of May, 2012
  • Results will be published by May 3rd week, 2012

Eligibility: For B.A. and B.B.A. LL.B.:

  • A
    The candidate should have passed 12th (10+2) examination from any recognized Board with minimum 50% marks (45% for S.C. /S.T. students) in one attempt (No compartment). Students who have appeared for their H.S.C. finals and awaiting results are also eligible to apply subject to submission of passing certificate by the announced date.
  • B
    Age Limit: Candidate should be less than 20 years of age at the time of appearing for the SET, as on 05 May 2012 (2 years relaxation for SC/ST candidate).
  • C
    Applicants who have obtained 10+2 through Open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for the Law Course. 
    Intake Limit – The total intake is 250 seats (inclusive of 180 seats of B.B.A.LL.B and 70 seats of B.A.LL.B).

B.A.LL.B - Rs. 1,30,000/- per annum. (Including caution deposit of Rs.5000/-)
B.B.A.LL.B. - Rs. 1,30,000/- per annum (Including caution deposit of Rs.5000/-)

Study Plan

In order to qualify for SET one should really work hard. Study materials are available on net. Only by practice one can learn how to manage time. This is one of the important parts in a test. One should be able to finish the paper within the time limit. It is only possible through hard work. Another method is to divide the portions and start studying from the weaker sections. This will definitely be beneficial. It would also help them to understand the portion well. They can also practice through mock test.
